  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is equity investment operations apprentice. it entails me to liaise with external and internal customers too retrieve and distribute data. I'm in charge of 4-5 projects, these include sending data to our data vendors, updating literature on our database, distributing the latest content and updating our existing content. if we were to would receive a query into our mailbox regarding a fund, then I would look at where we can access information needed for the query and then respond to the customer with the information

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have just achieved my level 3 in business administration and I am now starting my level 4. Fidelity offers many internal training courses ranging from writing skills to communication and time management skills. I have learnt how to communicate effectively with our customers whilst also gaining valuable finance knowledge

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I work in a great team where they are all friendly, and a manager that is extremely supportive. I thought the working environment would be a lot more tense than it is, but it has proved to be relaxed and understanding. I enjoy my programme very much

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Fidelity International?
  • my manager gives me frequent praise for the work I do, and my customers are very thankful for what I provide. From the start I was given a little responsibility each week, which has now enabled me to grow in confidence and produce good quality work.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme constantly offers training and support. for example, I am entitled to half a day's study a week which has helped me achieve my level 3, and will hope to do the same for my level 4 qualification. the programme is well organised, and we are in constant contact with each other regarding training and meeting dates.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • my training provider is extremely helpful when providing me with work and then assisting me with it should I have any problems. I enjoy seeing them

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • my manager has been really supportive when I'm struggling to answer question. she has also given me work that helps me achieve the assessment criteria which has made things a lot easier for me.

  • very well.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • my manager is always pushing me to get involved with as many extra curricular activities that I can. for example, we had an apprentice day where we went into a school and spoke about what we do. I also was part of a 6 aside team at work that encouraged me to get to know new people within the organisation

  • Yes

  • its a really supportive, welcoming and friendly company to work for that offers great insight into the finance industry.

  • Be confident, know what you are talking about, dress smart and smile!
