BODY CAD APPRENTICE Review

Body CAD Engineer - researching and designing components using CAD. Integrating throughout the whole department, feel like an actual employee not an apprentice. Spend most the time working on CAD.

Gaining qualifications, learned loads of CAD skills, interpersonal skills, through training provided by the company

Work is really enjoyable and a great environment. College is dull, poorly organised and doesn't seem to fit in with the exceptional standard expected of apprentices on this program.

At work I am made feel like a real part of the business by my mentors and colleagues.

Work side of things is excellent. Training provided is excellent, great star model system in place involving mentor, mentor support. As previously stated College is lacklustre and almost feels pointless due to lack of enthusiasm from lecturers, no content, and poor organisation.

We're taught nothing, and set myriads of assignments which actually seem pointless, as there isn't even any mark schemes or anything and the briefings often contain fundamental grammar and typing mistakes. Not up to standard.

Amazing external training provided. Internal support is brilliant, mentor system in place and they are always happy to help you whenever they can.

Pay is good provided you meet your requirements for "Rate for Stage" progression.

Personally I've been provided with no opportunity to do anything for the business outside of work, apart from "Micro Tyco" which fell into a really busy period for me. but I know that other apprentices have. I feel like the same few apprentices are always given the opportunities and no one else is given a looking.

Be prepared to work hard. Make sure it's definitely what you want to to, passion for cars is absolutely essential.
