1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

7/10

My department focuses on business implementation, and testing for change projects and programs. This is intended to enhance risk and control environments, whilst retiring legacy systems. When issues are noticed in a system, the tech team has to work to fix this. My role is to check that the changes meet any pre-set requirements, and that no more errors will occur. Test Utility uses multiple systems and processes to complete a project, for a specified deadline date.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

9/10

By the end of my apprenticeship I will have a Level 4 diploma in Financial Services. Through-out the apprenticeship we aim to develop our skills such as communication and team-working, and knowledge such as industry understanding. J. P. Morgan also offers many internal courses to take, in a variety of subjects. I have learnt more about the financial services industry, and the regulations that control it.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

9/10

I have enjoyed my apprenticeship as the people are friendly and welcoming. I know that if I have an issue, there will always be someone to ask about it, and that my team will be supportive of me. J. P. Morgan has exceeded my expectations through it's culture of inclusivity.

4. How valued do you feel by J.P. Morgan?

9/10

I feel valued by J. P. Morgan as both my managers and colleagues appreciate the work that I do in the team. They know that they can rely on me, so are keen to involve me as much as possible on projects. J.P. Morgan also has internal recognition awards for hard work.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

7/10

The induction process made everyone feel welcome, and more comfortable with the thought of joining such a large firm. Training is thorough, and includes both lectures and course books. Our lecturers are also available to e-mail if we need any further support. However, slightly unorganized regarding coursework and our end point assessment, and most apprentices were unsure as to what was happening.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

10/10

Tutors are available to answer e-mails at any time, as well as booking phone calls to check on our progress. This made support easily accessible. Good attitude in general, and prompt responses when sending off coursework.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

9/10

I have found that my manager is incredibly supportive of my apprenticeship, and encourages me to get involved as much as possible. My manager has also been understanding about taking time out of work to complete my exams. I have had few issues during my apprenticeship but I know that I have support from both manager and mentor if I need it.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

10/10

Due to a recent pay increase, I have found that my salary easily meet my living and travel costs. Due to the fact I live at home, my costs are less than others on the apprenticeship, but the salary seems to meet all reasonable costs e.g. rent.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

10/10

There are many opportunities to participate outside of work, including company events such as Round the Island, which apprentices are encouraged to participate by sailing, cycling or running. There are also many speaker events hosted by JP Morgan for employees to attend. At the Bournemouth campus there are many local community projects advertised, to get involved with. JP Morgan has many sports and activities clubs, as well as language classes.
