  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work within the projects team for Global Supplier Services. My role is in change management. My key responsibilities are to ensure that any changes within the business are communicated clearly and people are trained on the new systems. GSS incorporates the source to pay functionality of a firm and corporate accounts payable. Day to day tasks include attending meetings for project updates, creating training materials and reviewing communications before their distribution and getting managers approval.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have realized that I have a key eye for detail that I didn't think I had before this. I have also had the opportunity to work on my skills within the Microsoft tools. I have been able to develop my communication skills within this role which has been very beneficial for me. The course has also been very informative and as I came form a background with no prior experience it has been very exciting to learn new things.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The whole program is well structured by the apprenticeship team. It was very easy for us to become incorporated in the company as they took us through the onboarding and gave us all the relevant training we needed. Our study providers aren't the best organized company in the world, and there have been issues there. However, the apprenticeship team always work tirelessly to ensure these problems are rectified ASAP and have the minimum impact on our studying. When we started, we were all given a buddy (a previous apprentice) and this has been very beneficial for me and I think it is great that this has been set up by the team.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I think the training provider is the only issue with this apprenticeship. We are still early in our apprenticeship, so haven't met our tutors yet. But if I have ever emailed with issues, I have had to ask the apprenticeship team to chase the provider to get a response. However, we have received emails saying they are always there to support us.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get lots of support from the employer. As an apprentice, people want to know how we are doing and they want us to flourish as to them we are the future of the business. Also in regards to illness, its a very flexible company where you get lots of support if you need to take time off.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • JP Morgan is a very philanthropic company so there are many opportunities to help the wider community in the terms of volunteering, giving to charity etc. We have lots of sports clubs on site so people can get involved with that and our site is set in a lovely park where you can go out and have a nice walk.
