  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I get into work for 9am, on arrival I check my emails and meetings that I have on for the day and then go for a coffee with the team. During the day I go on many calls and meetings, some to do with work and others with my apprenticeship colleagues. I have many responsibilities within my team such as updating files etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time so far, I have experienced a work environment, being part of a team and also having responsibilities. Furthermore I have just passed my first CISI (financial exam) with 2 more to go before the end of my apprenticeship.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my work, this is mainly down to my work team who have been very welcoming, understanding and helpful. The company is very vibrant and has many activities and speakers on daily which makes it very easy to meet new people and network.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by J.P. Morgan?
  • In my team within the firm, I am included in every project and never feel excluded. I am always invited on extra meetings and calls and my manager is very rewarding and encouraging and shows her appreciation.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I was very well informed of my program beforehand and what to expect. The program has lived up to my expectations and more so. The team and Company are so welcoming and helpful and there is always someone to talk to if I'm struggling.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My training provider goes above and beyond what I ever expected. They provide extra support, learning material and guidance for those who are struggling or ask. They seem very happy to help and really want us to succeed.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is amazing, I cannot stress this enough. My manager, my apprenticeship manager and my mentors are very caring and understanding. They make tie for you and help whenever and wherever they can. They are happy to help and are always looking out for you.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Bournemouth (where I'm based) isn't that expensive so the salary I receive covers so I'm not struggling with money. The salary allows me to go out and have a social life outside of work and also to save up a some each month.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • With the Company there are many clubs, activities and days out. We are always invited to go to schools and talk about our Company and apprenticeship and also to help students with their CVs. There is a gym and pool center nearby which has very nice facilities. When I'm not working, I take the time to explore Bournemouth and catch up with my friends from the apprenticeship.

  • 9. Would you recommend J.P. Morgan to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • J.P.Morgan has provided me with a work environment from which I know have the tools, skills and knowledge to carry out a role in a team within a prestigious Financial Firm. I have met many people which has allowed me to have a wide network base and to tap into many other job opportunities and perspectives.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to J.P. Morgan?
  • To try out for this apprenticeship as the selection process is very thorough and great practice for the future. When it comes to interviews and the assessment process, know your stuff- research the firm, the area which you are particularly interested in and what qualities you think you have to make it. In addition be confident and friendly and ask a lot of questions.
