  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Data Analyst. I help to create a Metrics Pack which is discussed every morning at 08.30am. I have to work as part of a team of Accenture colleagues which is extremely beneficial. I have to liaise with POC's from different workstreams who are not always from Accenture.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a number of Excel skills and shortcuts whilst being on this project and I have started to teach myself SQL. I have learnt how to communicate on a large scale. I have improved my listening skills. I have completed all of my clients quarterly training courses.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I like the type of work I do and I love the people on the team. They make work what it is. It is great fun! The company itself is huge and there is always so much to learn.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • I feel valued in my team as an individual because when I complete tasks, my manager and colleagues take time out to appreciate my work. As an Accenture employee externally, I do not receive much recognition. I feel like this can improve from Accenture's behalf.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is structured but because of the nature of the project and the client losing a lot of money every month, it is extremely fast paced and I have not always received the support and mentoring that I need. However, my buddy and the people on my team (other analysts) are extremely helpful and always answer my questions and help me to understand what I am doing and how I can improve.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Not much.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager helps me when he sees I need it or when I ask. He is extremely helpful and always happy to help. I do not feel anxious to ask for help from anyone. My buddy is extremely approachable and I feel comfortable to speak to him about anything.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I think my salary meets my costs because I do not pay any bills. I spend more of my salary on my social life which is fine for now. I save a lot of money which will be beneficial when I start university. However, additional support should be given when someone is placed in an emergency tax code. It is difficult to work around this and even though I have called them, it has not been changed.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Once again, due to the nature of the project, there is not enough time to do things outside the project, but when I do get time, I go out to eat with my colleagues. I have also joined to Life@ Events team where we organise and coordinate events internally and externally.

  • 9. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The people are what makes Accenture. They are always willing to help and go above and beyond in terms of helping an individual understand and pushing them further.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Make sure they understand and can explain what Accenture is, what they do, success stories. Research! Try and speak to colleagues who work in Accenture or similar firms. Practise assessment day type scenarios with friends, family, online. Be truthful. If you do not understand a question, ask for it to be repeated or if you need time to think of an answer, ask. Worst thing you can do is reply to a question incorrectly.
