  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a Consultant Apprentice, my role varies daily as I get involved in a full range of client issues. My responsibilities include: Supporting the delivery of client-facing plan management activities and project deliverables •Assisting in day-to-day retirement management services, including drafting trustee reports, newsletters and funding statements •Playing an active part in delivering client satisfaction, retention and profitability •Carrying out administrative tasks contributing to the retirement and investment consulting process •Inputting data accurately to maintain management information

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • So far, I have not achieved any qualifications however, I have my first exam in April where I hope to pass my Core Unit 1A in Understanding Retirement Provision. I have had a lot of help and guidance since starting including online training courses.Since starting at Aon, I have developed my business knowledge and skills, which I hope to keep improving in the future.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far, I am really enjoying my programme and feel I have already learnt a lot. Everyone I work with is really helpful and supportive to me in helping me improve and develop. The company is really good to work for and provides many benefits.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aon?
  • I feel very valued by Aon and all the staff here. Everyone has made me feel really welcome and supported me since joining. My manager especially is always giving feedback which has allowed me to develop and improve since starting here. Moreover, Aon give you a lot of responsibility from the moment you start which makes you feel valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme I am on is very well organised and structured. My induction involved staying in a hotel with all the other new apprentices from around the UK. It was a really enjoyable week where we all learnt a lot whilst developing relationships with each other.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • So far, I have received a lot support from my training provider, including monthly phone calls where we discuss my progress and work towards completing tasks such as a workbook. They are always happy to help with anything and give good advice where needed.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Since starting, I have received a lot of support from my employer including my manager, HR team, buddy and other colleagues. They are always happy to help and provide guidance no matter how significant the work is.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is very generous.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Everyone at my office is very friendly and there are often social and company events outside of work. For example, I play football everyone Monday with other Aon colleagues from my office. There are also charity days at Aon which help the community.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Aon to a friend because since starting, I have really enjoyed my time at Aon and feel I have developed and improved my knowledge and skills. Furthermore, I have developed experience that you can't get at university which is one of the reasons I wanted to do an apprenticeship.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
  • My advice to others applying to Aon would be to be yourself in the interview stage and ensure you show your personality. Also, make sure you show off your skills and experience during the application process.
