Actuarial Anaylst Review

I am an actuarial apprentice, so my daily work will usually consist of helping the team with actuarial calculations to provide advice to the client.

I am working towards the CAA qualification, and have attended tutorials which will help me to succeed in exams, aswell as tutorials run by the company which should help to improve me in my professional role.

I really enjoy my programme, I find the work incredibly interesting, and will struggle to find a day that I do not find interesting. The team that I work with are willing to help me, and also are fantastic in giving explanations and pushing me to be better.

I feel valued by Aon, my manager and other members of the team give me recognition when I have done a job well, shown in my end of year review when I have recieved constructive feedback from the team, which has made me want to continue working hard.

The team at BPP have been helpful in having monthly meetings with me to check on my progress and again, give contructive feedback when I have given a piece of work to them to check.

I receive monthly catchup calls from my training provider and have quarterly face to face meetings which are productive, and I feel that when I need guidance, I will always get it.

My manager and the team that I work with are always keen to help me, I have a mentor that did the apprenticeship a year earlier than me, who has been helpful in showing me how the apprenticeship works, and the team will motivate me to work hard in the job that I am doing.

This covers my costs well, I find that I have enough to live and also have the money to spend to enjoy myself aswell, so I see it as very competitive in comparison to other apprenticeships.

I have been involved in a voluntary day with work, where we were off site for the day volunteering, which was a great opportunity to meet other members of the company and volunteer.

They have given me fantastic support in the time that I have been with them. I find that the team that I work with always try to help wherever possible which will speed up my learning and hopefully lead to me becoming qualified as quickly as possible

Try to enjoy yourself at the assessment day, the people that will run them are friendly and want you to succeed, especially since we have little knowledge of the industry we are going into. They are looking for people who are keen to learn, so that is what you need to show!
