Integration engineer Review

I currently work as an Electrical integration engineer, this role is also known as system engineer. This involves ensuring at all of the vehicles electrical systems interface correctly and do not impede each others function. At the minute I am managing and supporting 4 EOL technicians.

I have learned several new skills including problem solving, project management, resource management as well as more specific skills related to systems engineering. As well as skills in practical engineering ie Mill turn fit weld electronics and coding. However I feel the programme could be further tailored to my individual development needs.

I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship programme as I really enjoy my day to day working life. My job makes me feel like a valued member of the team and provides me with challenges which keeps the programme interesting.

I feel as though I am a valued employee, I am currently heading up a prototype product launch at one of our prototype vehicle manufacturing sites. This job role is significantly higher than my current pay grade this to me shows that I am a valued employee.

My programme is well structured and provides enough time to complete work place activities as well as study in my own time. Currently I believe the degree portion of the apprenticeship could be more individually structured towards what I actually do as apposed to the current generic system.

My training provider is the university of warwickshire. They are always available via moodle and there forums which keeps me in contact with the tutors of the respective subjects. I also have a tutor at the university I meet with each block to discuss any issues I am having.

I can contact my manager at any time with any issues I have. I also have a mentor I can refer back to if I have any technical job related questions. In addition I have a work based training manager to interface the on the job training with the university degree "training".

My current salary package meets the costs of living in the centre of our many manufacturing sites of which I have to be flexible and attend all. The salary package also increases by 8% bi-annually and the company is constantly in paye talks with the union and pensions scheme.

Jaguar land rover provide employees with many external opportunity's the first type is known as the Employee Learning Scheme were once per year a £200 bursary is given to the applicant to learn a new skill, I myself this year have used that to get snowboarding lessons and in the past have used it to fund driving lessons. Other opportunistys include trips abroad and team functions.

Well structured apprenticeship that is constantly improving over time, the company is supportive with apprentice needs. I am provided with real on the job training experience and skills, which are valuable in the current job I am in and would be suited to other business's if i chose to move to another company. Also degree in engineering with no debt.

The application process is long and requires detail in all steps as often there are more than 7000 applicants so try to make yourselves stand out. Within the application process there will be skills tests ie wiring up a wing mirror and a tough one on one interview. Revise what you submit online before the physical stage.
