I am an Apprentice Mechatronics Maintenance Technician, this means that at our workplace I am part of the maintenance team that keeps the production line running. At the moment I am in college and attending training centres full time.
Yes. As part of my training I have developed practical skills within a workshop such as operating lathes and millers, as well as engaging in MIG welding. I have also undergone educational qualifications to expand my knowledge of areas relevant to the job such as that within electronic principles, three phase systems, engineering drawing, and mechanical principles etc.
I find this program very enjoyable. It is very rewarding in my opinion.
I feel that Jaguar Land Rover are a very supportive company who take the health and wellbeing of their employees very seriously. As a whole within the work place there is a very "collective" mentality that is very welcoming and friendly.
The general structure has followed a logical approach. However the minute details are prone to change in an on the fly manner, specifically at the start of the course due to communication. That said once the ball is rolling there are rarely any issues with this.
The training providers tend to be very supportive and offer help and guidance proactively and should you seek it.
There is a fair amount of support from JLR in the forms of assigning ITM's to you that perform regular behavioural reviews and handle any pastoral issues should that be required. They genuinely care about your wellbeing and progress within the programme and at the workplace.
Very. For an Apprentice I feel I am very well salaried. Provided you meet all the requirements it very soon becomes a "livable" wage.
Yes, throughout the course there are various opportunities to engage in CSR events, aswell as an "employee learning scheme" that offers discounts on development of extra curricular skills.
Yes
They are a very reputable and supportive company. If there is a position that they are interested in, then I would recommend them as an employer.
Sell yourself, and be open and honest about what you bring to the table.
