  • Software engineer, testing, developing and delivering software to the customers. This role also involves delivering software to clients across Europe.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have been certified and have gained vast experiences in PLSQL, JAVA and UNIX. I have been on a few courses outside my work and university which supports learning and development

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it greatly, the role is interesting in an emerging market. allowing me to obtain industry experience whilst also completing my degree to support what I am doing In the workplace

  • 4. How valued do you feel by CGI?
  • Fairly valued, recently there was a wage increase across the sponsored degree programme. This helped to match marketing figures, however there is still a little more they could do.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • somewhat organised, there are sometimes some communication issues and issues with delivery of books and such, which potentially slow down the learning at university

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a huge amount of support from the University of Winchester, they have allowed me to come in 1 day a week to support learning. They also give extra support should you ask for it

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a huge amount of support from those who have already been through the programme. This is generally a member lead procedure which helps support my learning needs

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • At first it is somewhat difficult to cover all costs with the wage. however, the salary will increase yearly which provides a significant boost to living standards.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes there is a social club which any member can join which does activities like events and away days at cut costs. Futhermore there are lunchtime clubs which do fitness

  • 9. Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Paid degree, outstanding learning opportunities. CGI also provide support if it needs members to transfer or relocate. Furthermore, CGI gives members the opportunity to travel Europe for work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?
  • Apply early and ensure you have a good aptitude towards technology, be prepared to put in the effort to do a degree and work at the same time
