I manage the qualifications and apprenticeship programmes at Anchor Trust ensuring the right qualifications are available to support the development of colleagues across the business. I am responsible for ensuring we meet business and industry targets for qualifications, as well as developing young talent through our Apprenticeship programme. I also manage work experience programmes and Traineeships. I have recently had the opportunity to complete a Level 2 Qualification in Medication in Health & Social Care. This has helped me to gain a deeper understanding of the role of Team Leaders, Deputy Managers and Home Managers at Anchor.
Having come from a Retail background, I have really benefited from the opportunity to complete additional care related qualifications and am now completing a Level 5 Apprenticeship in Leadership and Management and my Level 4 Internal Verifiers qualification.
I have enjoyed completing my Level 2 as I was able to complete it in bite-sized chunks around my other work and was given clear support and guidance all of the way through. It was very much down to me to take ownership of the qualification and the timescales set were very realistic and achievable.
I feel very valued working at Anchor as they try to ensure there is training and qualifications to support you at every level of your career. My manager encourages me to continue my professional development. Anchor have now been recognised as a Top 50 Employer of School & College leavers 2016.
The programme is very well structured with workbooks to support each module and answer books to record all learning. Support sheets and contacts are provided with top tips and there is no cost to me as a learner.
My training provider gave me a very thorough induction and overview, with clear expectations, access to large libraries of information and tutor/advisor support when needed. I was given feedback after each module to support continued development.
Anchor have supported me to complete the qualification with full support from my manager. The qualifications team were able to advise me on a couple of questions where real examples were required from the workplace.
My salary is very competetive and Anchor pay a very good Apprenticeship wage for 16-24 year olds including assistance with travel costs.
I am an I-Care Associate and am able to attend careers events and schools/colleges to promote Anchor and careers in Health & Social Care. I am also part of the Trailblazer group within my sector. Anchor has its own rewards package and covers the cost of NUS cards upon registration to an Apprenticeship/FE course.
Yes
Anchor really invests in it's colleagues with one of the best training programmes and qualifications frameworks I have seen.
Do not be put off be Assessment Days, it's a chance for you to see if the job is for you as well as to show your potential to the employer.
