1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
On a day to day basis I was working with the kids and providing them support when needed. I was also helping the school to make displays for the next year to get them ahead for the next academic year. My responsibilities included going to class room to class room and being the teaching assistant.
2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I gained new skills in many ways, I gained the skill of talking to different age groups and developing my confidence in a way that I am able to speak with different type of people no what what their age. Another skill I gained was communicating with children and gaining computer skills.
3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
I enjoyed the programme very well as the team was very good to communicate with. The company culture was also very good as there was a friendly atmosphere.
4. How valued do you feel by Field Lane Junior, Infants and Nursery School?
I felt very valued as I gained high appreciation from my supervisor and also I gained internal recognition. The staff involved me in many tasks projects like the class assemblies.
5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
The programme was very structured as they allocated me in different classes mainly the juniors. They also gave me induction to all my tasks that were allocated to me.
6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
I gained a lot of support from my training provider as they allocated me with set of classrooms which I was in throughout the whole experience. They also gave a lot of guidance when I was not able to attend for one day due to health reasons.
6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
I received alto of support from my supervisor as whenever I was in need of some sort of support, I was able to ask for it by whoever. They also had a very good attitude towards helping me.
7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
There was no salary as it was a voluntary experience, however due to the school being very near to where I live, I was able to walk to the school everyday, so there was little cost involved.
8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
There was many opportunities outside of work as I was involved with the assemblies that took place and also the playground activities so that the children can bond with me as a teacher.
9. Would you recommend Field Lane Junior, Infants and Nursery School to a friend?
As the school made me feel very welcome and provided me with many opportunities. They also had a very friendly atmosphere that caused a lot of community cohesion
10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Field Lane Junior, Infants and Nursery School?
Application process is fairly easy, and be honest in the application. The opportunity is very great as the atmosphere will make you never wanting to leave
