1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
The idea of this apprenticeship is that you become a manager for the site, i have already been working towards this role and when learning each area i have also to manage the people of this area.
2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
i have learnt a variety of new skills within the logistics business from learning how to key in vehiles to driving a ppt truck and using the scan guns to scan in products. i am also continuously developing my people skills as i get further into my apprenticeship.
3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
like every job it does have its ups and downs, but with Gist i have found there are mostly ups. I have enjoyed working with the people at gist and have found that the people who have worked here the longest are the ones who are the freindliest towards me. Whenever i feel i am struggling there is normally an FTE around how can help to point me in the right direction.
4. How valued do you feel by Gist Ltd?
i feel somewhat valued, there are many people who are trying to help me along in my apprenticeship and they're all there if you need help. from Gemma palmer who is charge of the programme to my mentor at another site they all try to help me with any issues i have.
5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
I dont feel that the programme is well structured at all. For me, i learn better when i am shown what to do and then watched doing it to see how i get on, this has not been the case with most of my learning. Alot of the apprenticeship is self directed learning and if you want to learn something you have to ask. As someone who was quite shy when i stasrted i found this quite distressing to do, only as i have gotten use to the peole around me do i feel more comfortable doing this.
6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
I recieve alot of support from my training provider. My assor will come to see me once a month and we will talk about any issues i've had along with getting any wrk done that needs to get done in order to finish my learning.
6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
I have found that support comes to me in diffrent ways, mainly i get constructive critisism, and although this my be halpful in the long run while reciving it it doesn't feel overly supportave. i feel i could use some more positve incouragement. but overall i do feel that my employer do support me
7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
it is a good salary for an apprentice. however if i were to buy my lunch at work everyday and not recive a lift to and from work i could see there potentially being issues.
8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
i dont really understand the question? oppertunities for what?
9a. Would you recommend Gist Ltd to a friend? *
