  • R&D Technologist Leaf Tea Development Team for Unilever Brands in Europe This involves innovation, roll-out and maintenance of the current portfolio and business. Most commonly partnering with marketing and supply chain. Working 50% in the lab and 50% in the office.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained a BSc Food Science & Technology degree and attended a number of internal and external courses for personal and team development.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Unilever has a relaxed but motivating culture that provides an environment to learn and develop whilst maintaining a good work/life balance.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Unilever?
  • Extremely valued based on the responsibilities and trust that you are given. Business partners highly value R&D and give respect regardless of being an apprentice.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Well organised and improving as the scheme is relatively new. There is a formalised rotation system so apprentices can experience more of the business and support is provided through a buddy and mentor.

  • As expected from University, no different to a full time student.

  • Great support network and always people around to help. Great amount of effort for general well-being.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Great pay and bonus schemes. Travel and University is sponsored by Unilever. And an annual performance/ pay review.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Unilever allow you to take volunteering days in addition to regular holiday days, They also provide sports facilities, including a gym, tennis courts and a golf course.

  • Yes

  • Fantastic opportunity if you are motivated and want to work for a great company, doing meaningful work with a purpose.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • Always stretch yourself and don't be intimidated by the fact Unilever is a huge company. It is made up of lots of great individuals.
