  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a sales adviser. I work on the till which involves cash handling and selling 'star buys' to customers in order to meet weekly targets. I also help take in deliveries and organise it for fellow colleagues so we can put the stock out.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Now that my apprenticeship is over I am now training to become a team leader. My confidence has grown and I have learnt how to work under pressure.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my year as an Apprentice at Superdrug. I have learnt new skills and I feel that I have more of an opportunity to progress in retail because of this Apprenticeship. I have enjoyed working with my colleagues as we all support each other and get on very well; the company also looks after its staff which makes coming to work enjoyable.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Superdrug?
  • Superdrug reward hard work, for example: My shop was given £100 to spend on a night out because we got 100% in our mystery shop score. My manager will tell me if I've done a good job and I feel appreciated.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have units that I complete which makes the work a lot easier to handle. I was given health and safety training to begin with which is very important, I have constant support from my manager and assessor.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My tutor gave me their email and phone number so I could always ask a question when ever and they would get back to me within a few hours. I had no problems that needed addressing but I felt that if I did have a problem, I could go to her.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager was very supportive and was keen on me learning how to do things at work. HR would ring up every couple of months to find out how my apprenticeship was going.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I have no travel costs, however I do pay my parents rent. Although the money was fine for me to pay my rent as well as have enough for myself, the money is not good for the hours you work.

  • Yes, an Apprenticeship in retail means there are plenty of opportunities for different places to go work for.

  • Yes

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Superdrug?
  • Superdrug want happy, bubbly and enthusiastic people. Someone applying should be keen to meet targets as Superdrug strive for meeting weekly targets.
