  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I will be spending a lot of time ensuring other people are doing their job properly, I will be visiting other companies to ensure they are providing JLR with parts to the required standard and within the timescale set.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I can now confidently present in front of other people where as before I was worried to speak to more than 2 people at a time. I have learnt many engineering skills which has given me an insight into what is required for my future career.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Love it, they help to build friendship groups by starting the year with team building exercises which helps a lot, there are plenty of opportunities in the company and the salary is good.

    9/10

  • 4. How valued do you feel by JLR?
  • Quite valued, they keep you in the "know how" with regular plant updates and they keep you involved in the business.

    7/10

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is structured well, although you are at the training provider for the first year, the company have plenty of involvement with you and don't just cut you off from the rest of the business, they keep you informed with plant updates. It's a shame the training provider isn't to the same amazing level that JLR is at.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training provider, although will allow you to pass the course, does not have the required teaching skills to be able to teach JLR apprentices. I would class it as satisfactory. The training provider is not to the standard nor anywhere near the teaching standard that JLR requires in my opinion. Parking at the place is a joke.

    4/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is a lot of support from them, they can help people out with many things and there is always somebody to help you out. They can support you with other things too such as financial difficulties and problems outside of work.

    9/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary here is very generous, it is much more difficult for the people who live over 40 miles away due to the bad traffic and fuel costs, a lot of people have to re locate which ends up taking a big cut of your wages which can be a problem for some.

    10/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, there are plenty of activities to do such as fishing and jaguar land rover experiences like the off road coarse where you get to go in a land rover defender off road. There are lots of team building excercises and communication improvement activities.

    10/10

  • 9. Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because there are so many opportunities within the company, the salary is very good and it has very appealing job roles.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
  • As long as you are motivated, polite and have a real drive to improve and impress then you will be fine.
