  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an audit assistant, I travel out to various clients, and perform audit work on their financial statements, I attend college regularly, once a week if there are courses running

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, throughout my time here with RSM, I have developed many skills, the main one, I believe, is communication skills with clients, as you get thrown into client situations, pretty much from day one, also there is more sector specific skills that are learned through on the job work

    8/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I feel like the programme is very good, I think that the experiences that can be gained for this opportunity are vast, and that throughout the working week there are obviously going to be things that aren't fantastic, but overall, I enjoy working for RSM, and in particular in the audit department

    8/10

  • 4. How valued do you feel by RSM?
  • This can vary, usually I feel like I am well valued, in all areas of the work that I do, every so often, however, there are times when it seems like the people above don't really value the work that I do, but these are rare occurrences, as the majority of the time it is the opposite

    8/10

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel the programme is very well structured, the training received is of a high standard, and allows quick progression, I haven't found any faults with it yet, so in my opinion the programme is structured in a good way

    10/10

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training provider that we use is First Intuition, they are very helpful whilst in class, and continue to offer support in the run up to exams should this be required, they always send out mock papers to ensure I am ready for exams, and are always happy to go through the answers should they be needed

    9/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer provides good support when needed, however I haven't felt the need to look for too much support, and therefore I cannot give a true reflection of the support on offer

    7/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary that I am given meets the costs for what I need, what person wouldn't want a higher salary, but overall I feel like I receive a salary equal to the work that I perform, and this is enough to cover the costs that I have

    8/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, the company regularly put on charity events, which we are always encouraged to take part in where possible, they also run sporting events, which are always well received, therefore there are many opportunities presented outside of work

    9/10

  • 9. Would you recommend RSM to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have had nothing but good things ever since I started working here, so realistically, why wouldn't I recommend this to a friend, however most of my friends are not interested in a career in accounting, so the question is a bit redundant

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSM?
  • The only real advice I would give to someone, is to make sure that this is something they would like to do long term, as it is not a short process, and therefore joining if they are not committed could really be a negative for anybody
