Apprentice Engineer, on a daily task in the first 3 years i worked with the craftsman learning on the job, getting the experience of different plants on site. the final 2 years when I am completing my degree I go into the role of Trainee engineer where I am shadowing Engineers learning how to manage projects and people.
I have gained HNC/HND/foundation degree in electrical and electronic engineering along site this I have gain invaluable skills in knowledge of electrical maintenance and also managerial roles.
I am very interested in engineering so solving problems and working together as a team to achieve this is very rewarding. Its quite hard work doing an NVQ level 3 and foundation degree along side each other while working full time but once completed is well worth it and you get a great sense of accomplishment.
As both an apprentice and now a Trainee Engineer, they know very well we are the future of the company and value use, making sure we are supported all the way through our apprenticeship and making sure we have all the information/ experience we need, meeting up with us once a month to deliver on safety matters an business updates, I also gives us a chance to discuss any issues we may have. Our area Peers make sure we are progressing and making sure we are on the right jobs with the right teams to gain the experience we need.
The Apprenticeship is very well organised and established and the Trainee engineer scheme seems to be structured well how ever due to it being new the company is learning and it is always being improved.
There is plenty of support form the training provider and it is very easy to get in contact with them if we come across any issues.
This is very similar to the training provider there is plenty of support form them and it is very easy to get in contact with them if we come across any issues.
It is very competitive with other apprenticeships and I feel the increases every year are very fair.
The company put a lot of support into the community but I have only ever got involved with one of the volunteering actives which was very successful.
Yes
Enjoyed my experienced and gain a lot of experience in different areas that I wouldn't gain in many other companies.
Make sure you are well prepared not only from your own experience but also knowledge of the company and what process go on at the site you are applying for.
