1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
My day to day job role is to assemble and strip fuel and hydraulic systems for Formula One race engines, carrying out non destructive test to ensure they are running correctly and reliably. Components within the assemblies need to be put onto a computer based programme. Other jobs may include swapping fuel injectors, pressure testing fuel systems or removing components from current race engines.
2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have learnt to fully strip a full race spec engine down to component level safely and correctly. I have learnt how to kit an engine to be used on a dyno rig. I have learnt how to use the database system. I can now carry out a 'final inspection' on an engine before it leaves to be used at the track. I can build various mechanical assemblies including fuel systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
I enjoy the programme very much, I enjoy working as a team towards a common goal. I enjoy my work as I like to learn new things and be challenged by my work to solve problems. I like the company culture as you always feel rewarded for your hard work and I enjoy the company culture.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
The apprenticeship programme here at Mercedes AMG is very well organised as before the beginning of the apprenticeship the programme is structured very well across the three years to allow and even spread of work across all of the departments to allow for the amount of work needed to be done.
6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
I feel like I receive an adequate amount of support from my training provider within the apprenticeship. I meet regularly with my assessor to ensure that my work is staying at the correct standard and of the correct quantity. If I need any support I feel as if I have plenty of people to ask for help.
6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
I feel like I receive a good amount of support from my employer, my managers, HR team and colleagues all are happy to help if I am ever in need of support or guidance. Here at HPP the general attitude to helping and supporting the apprentices is very positive. I am regularly assured that support is there if I need it.
7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
My yearly salary easily covers my living costs as I do not pay rent and bring in a pack lunch every day. the biggest cost for me is travelling to and fro work as I live 23 miles from work but I can easily afford this and still have spare money for myself.
8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
There are a number of activities that are available for me outside of work, for example football and cycling. I would like there to be more opportunities to be able to get some track-side experience as this is what I would like to do later in life. The company does offer a lot of outside of work social events such as meals out, family fun days ect.
