  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day job role is to assemble and strip fuel and hydraulic systems for Formula One race engines, carrying out non destructive test to ensure they are running correctly and reliably. Components within the assemblies need to be put onto a computer based programme. Other jobs may include swapping fuel injectors, pressure testing fuel systems or removing components from current race engines.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt to fully strip a full race spec engine down to component level safely and correctly. I have learnt how to kit an engine to be used on a dyno rig. I have learnt how to use the database system. I can now carry out a 'final inspection' on an engine before it leaves to be used at the track. I can build various mechanical assemblies including fuel systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My yearly salary easily covers my living costs as I do not pay rent and bring in a pack lunch every day. the biggest cost for me is travelling to and fro work as I live 23 miles from work but I can easily afford this and still have spare money for myself.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are a number of activities that are available for me outside of work, for example football and cycling. I would like there to be more opportunities to be able to get some track-side experience as this is what I would like to do later in life.
