  • I design Molds for the manufacturing of concrete cladding panels. I may also design any items relevant to the business to aid in this process.

  • I have learnt many new skills and attended many training courses. Some examples of this including professional development course and support for professional qualifications, personal development courses such as presentation skills and career planning.

  • I enjoy my programme as I get to work on live projects which I can make a significant contribution, the programme is well structured and offers good benefits.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Laing O'Rourke?
  • In general I feel valued by Laing O'Rourke as I work alongside other employees to achieve common goals.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme is well organized and structured, with regular updates and visit from the programme team. This allows me to plan what will be happening and I can raise any concerns to the relevant people. I receive plenty of support for my studies and other people have been more than happen to help when I have come under pressure from exams.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive moderate support from the University but this is only in terms of the academic requirements and is not as supportive as some of the individuals at my workplace.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have a mentor whom I have regular meeting to discuss development and I also have a annual review with a senior person in the business to aid in guiding my development. The company is proactive in ensuring that we succeed and is happy to support us if we come to them with problems.

  • The benefits package is towards the upper end of the scale.

  • Yes the various locations hold events such as sporting or night outs.

  • Yes

  • I think it is a good company to work for with a culture that rewards hard work. The development opportunities, so far, I have found to be of a high standard.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Laing O'Rourke?
  • I would recommend reading about the company and the industry in general, there is a lot of information on the company website. If invited for an interview this gives the opportunity to ask questions about what the company is doing, and can be a real positive.
