  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Digital Strategy & Value Consultant, within our Digital Transformation Business Unit. My main role is being billed external to clients on a day-rate designing Digital Strategies for Private and Public Sector Clients. This involves being within small teams (max3/4) for short periods (5-12 weeks) engaging directly with Executive Directors and Senior Stakeholders. I am usually responsible for engaging and collating all key information on the client and researching how their organisation 'works' to analyse their business model and identify their business priorities. These priorities then form the basis of our recommendations regarding what Digital Technologies to adopt.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. I have been a PMO, Project Manager and now a Consultant. I have been promoted to Level 2 which would only have been possible if I was developing both at work and at The University of Winchester, with the support of the QA apprenticeship we also gain on the course.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really do enjoy the programme. The best part is the people; everyone is willing to help and really wants to support you. The work is good, but can be really tough at times and it is challenging to keep a brave face but if you push through, you get there. University has been the biggest turnaround for me. I never thought I would be able to achieve a 1st and I was more interested in work for the first two years but now in my 3rd year I have changed my attitude and hit a 1st in every assignment thanks to the support of everyone at CGI and the University.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It is good, but could be better. Though I am fully aware that it will go up significantly when I graduate which will be great! All expenses are paid when travelling which is a god send when you're travelling up and down the country on a daily basis.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

  • 9. Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a great opportunity to be on the SDP with lots of different roles, people and experiences

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?
  • Make sure you research the company, you probably don't know anything about us (other than what's on our website) but we're in the news online a lot more so find out what we're doing and see if it interest you. Also, my top tip... never call your interviewer 'mate' on your assessment day.... big no no.
