  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Credit Risk Middle Office Analyst: Daily activities: Review and Approve contract limit requests, review amend and set up of credit facilities and accounts for clients, provide knowledge to stakeholders regarding set up of credit and debit lines, approve product requests from credit perspectives. Responsibilities resolve around timely responses and through review. Interactions involve only internal clients, with credit, product, risk, sales and execution teams.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In addition to the course and exams, which involve Financial services in general, Risk and IT, skills learnt include time management, intermediary VBA, communication, in depth product knowledge and other internal and external training courses.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Team: Great very welcoming and friendly, Work: Satisfying and rewarding, Company Culture: Transparent and an open door policy with managers, met expectations and exceed in many areas, enjoyable to work here

  • 4. How valued do you feel by J.P. Morgan?
  • Reasonably, for the work done, and in the case of when projects/extra activities are undertaken recognition is given appropriately. Manager voices praise and criticism fairly, and appreciates any additional work/effort done.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Induction and boot-camp was well structured and thorough. Training into team was good. Support from apprenticeship providers consistent and great. Regular updates and communication, as well as advanced planning for lectures and study sessions. Work is as hectic as your team happens to be.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Tutors are good support throughout lectures and revision sessions. Accessible through Email. Generally helpful to those who need it/want it. Courses are not enjoyable and sessions can be sluggish and drag on, but in general very helpful.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Manager is very supportive and helpful, as part of culture teams and other events. Honest 1-2-1 discussions provide routine feedback. Apprenticeship leads also supportive of general issues or specific, culture in work place would be to provide support where needed if asked.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Just. Apprenticeship wage - whilst well above minimum legal apprenticeship wage - is still very low when it comes to living alone. Overall salary would make living alone impossible, sharing rent with flat mate makes it manageable, with multiple this would be increasingly easy.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes. The area is full of things you can do, such as leisure clubs, community events etc. Standard large town stuff. In addition, the company/departments provide many events to be involved in.

  • Yes

  • Strong support environment, good apprenticeship program, positive prospects to build a career from. Environment and culture are very supportive and make for a great first job opportunity.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to J.P. Morgan?
  • Be yourself in the interviews, the place is full of characters and you're find to stand out. The onboarding process was a nightmare, no specific areas of study are needed, there's a role for everyone.
