  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Machinist at Mercedes AMG HPP I operate a wide variety of machines ranging from manual machines to C.N.C machines to accomplish a large range of tasks. on a daily basis I spend a lot of time solving problems with my fellow colleagues and line managers, this can range for other operators to Q.E's and M.E's and designers meaning you get a lot of experience in different fields of work other than machining. I am responsible for the machines I use as well as making sure that everybody who is working with and around me is kept safe, I am also responsible for any of the parts I make and to make sure that they are in spec.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed a large amount of skills and I am still being given opportunity to hone them whilst I am here, I have learnt more here than I did at three years of college.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my programme to work load is consistent and being able to work with such highly skilled colleagues means that I learn more that just how to run a job, we work together as a team we play together as a team. it exceeded my expectations on what I would be doing and learning and I is a amazing place to start.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains?
  • you are valued by everyone you work with as the skills you bring to the table are recognised and then when you are away it is noticed, but in the greater schemes of the company things can be over looked just because of the way the company works. they like to challenge you and put you in the deep end so that you can immerse yourself in the job.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the course is well structured and laid out well to accommodate all of the course criteria you need to complete the course, they offer support and offer mentors all of which you can chose to use or not to use.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • our training provider is very good normally making appearances one a month or at least once every six weeks, they are also very responsive when it comes to replying to emails with questions tat need answering.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • we receive support from our employers that are a more practical way than theoretical as if we need time of to study they will accommodate this but they also provide you access to knowledge in the form of people around the factory.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • the salary is very good a lot better than any other apprenticeship I have seen, considering it was enough for me to move out of home and rent for myself with the first pay bracket I think it is good

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • there are plenty we are a company that likes to work hard and play hard, there are multiple events that are hosted by the company and are pay for by them so that you don't have to worry about the cost of it.

  • 9. Would you recommend Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • it is by far the best place you could want to start you career in, they train you pay for more training if you ask and they look after you when you are working for them.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains?
  • if you get through to interview stages make sure to be yourself rather than some one you think you need to be, there looking for good people that have the correct mind-set for a job like this.
