  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a compliance caseworker in hidden economy. On a day to day basis this normally involves going out to meet customers, working on cases and always completing my training programme. Aswell as working on my apprenticeship.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved my time keeping immensely as I'm currently undertaking 3 qualifications and as such need to use my time wisely

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it as it's quite varied and I get to do a lot of different tasks as part of my apprenticeship and as working in hidden economy.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Civil Service?
  • I feel very valued, I feel that I'm integrating in to the team well and have received positive feedback from my manager.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel it could be improved as there seems to be times when people aren't certain on when and what needs to be done. There also sometimes seems to be a delay in communication.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • They are very accessible, however I do sometimes feel on the classroom events.. we could do with learning more that is useful for our assignments.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel very well supported, my manager appreciates that I have additional work to do and as such gives me the time to complete it.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It meets it perfectly. It is in a good location, so it doesn't cost too much to get there. The salary is also a lot higher than the average apprenticeship and as such helps with living costs and social costs.

  • Yes, there are always things to get involved in both as part of my main job and the apprenticeship program.

  • Yes

  • It's a good place to work with plenty of opportunities.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Civil Service?
  • Make sure you stand out from the rest, and don't get disheartened if you don't hear anything straight away. There is usually a reserve list so you might be successful later on.
