1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a daily basis my role is to shadow E/I technicians to learn the routine maintenance operations of GSK Ulverston. My role involves having daily interaction with my mentor and team managers.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many skills in the instrumentation and electrical field. I have also learnt organisational and time management skills to help me progress in my apprenticeship scheme.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my work greatly as I can work with experienced technicians to develop my skills whilst working as part of a driven and committed team.

4. How valued do you feel by GSK?

I feel valued by GSK as I have regular reviews with my manager and mentor. I feel valued when I am praised for progressing in my scheme.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The GSK organisation is getting better year on year. A structured pathway from year one to four is now in place. A detailed area rotation plan allows the scheme to be well balanced in all areas.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

My training provider is Gen 2 Ulverston at times support is lacking from the training provider and the current national certificate and higher national certificate can feel unorganised and out of control.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer as I feel I have many people I could discuss an issue securely. I feel like I am in a safe environment to express my opinions.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

I am very satisfied with the package GSK offers. The benefits are very good and I don't have to commute far to perform my work

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

The GSK scheme offers many opportunities out of work time such as getting involved with mentoring STEM events or orange days.

9. Would you recommend GSK to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

The scheme gives many progression opportunities to develop skills and branch out to constantly challenge yourself. The support received at work is a good support branch for the scheme also.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?

Show the assessors all of your skillset and try to make the assessment day presentation you will give relevant to the role you are applying for to show drive and passion for the subject.
