  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in Procure to Pay so I deal with the invoices that GSK is paying for the UK market. I work with my colleagues and other people in the business to resolve any issues they're having with approving invoices. I am responsible for ensuring MHRA payments are made in a timely manner.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am currently working towards my level 4 CIMA qualification which is funded by GSK. I have however also developed personal skills such as my communication and also my confidence when presenting.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy working with my team as they're all friendly and always happy to help. GSK is a nice company to work for as even though you're busy they still give you time to relax and have fun - EG team lunches, table tennis tables, staff parties.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by GSK?
  • I do feel valued at GSK as if my managers receive praise regarding my work they're always quick to pass it on and share it with the rest of the team. There is also a good recognition programme for any outstanding work.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was slightly disorganised at the beginning as our apprentice contact was moving roles. However, we now have a new contact and there is a much better structure developed.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My training provider contact is always happy to help and we have regular catch-ups. She is also always happy to try and help with any issues I'm having - whether that is with the actual job or trying to enrol on my exam course.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager is very supportive and organises monthly 1:1's so I can feedback to her and let her know if there is anything I want to get involved in. GSK also allow you time off for studyleave when you're coming up to an exam which is very helpful!

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I am currently living at home so my salary is suitable at the moment as my costs are reduced. As an apprenticeship we are also given a small travel fund which really helps as that is my biggest cost as I live relatively far away from the office.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • In GSK there are many 'working groups' which you can become involved in or take part in the activities they've organised. We also have many team events and activities. They also give you a chance to get involved in a lot of voluntary work to help are associated charity.

  • 9. Would you recommend GSK to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They're a good company to work for as they make you feel valued. They are also good at providing new opportunities and support you through your qualifications to help get you to the level you want to be.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?
  • Be sure to research GSK a bit before sending your application/your interview - especially look in to GSK's values and expectations. If you do get the job be prepared for quite a long onboarding process before you start - as it's a large company there are lots of steps that need to be complied with.
