  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a planning and control higher apprentice, i complete 6 different placements throughout the supply chain over my 3 years. I am currently in a master scheduling role, which gives me many responsibilties. I also undertake a BA in Business management and and NVQ level 5 in supply chain management.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my confidence skills in communicating with various people thoughout the supply chain. I have become more organised in carrying out tasks and I have also seen my problems solving skills develop.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • For me it was a descion between going to unviversity or doing this apprenticeship. I am glad i took this oportuinity as i enjoy the working in a proffesional enviroment. It has given me oportunities and has developed skills i dont believe I would have if i had gone straight to uni. I enjoy the programme very much

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Rolls-Royce?
  • Rolls Royce value all of its apprentices highly. With the training that we are provided with and the responsbilities we are given, it is clear that Rolls Royce understands the value that we, in the future, will bring to the organisation

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Procedures are put in place to ensure we complete each course that we are required to. Information is always easy to get hold of. I can see the structure that I am following and what i need to do to acheive my goals. It is very well organised.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My NVQ accessor will always reply to me within 24 hours and he is always willing to help. Nottingham Trent University are also willing to offer any support that i need.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • All the support i need is provided. There are many steps in place when going to ask for help. I have never felt that I do not have enough support.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • As i had to relocate, this has had an impact on the amount of 'Spare' money that i have compared to my peers. But RR provides me with enough money to be able to rent a house with friends aswell as living a comfortable life. If you factor in university fees, the salary is very generous.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is an apprentice and graduate association which involves many different activties outside of week. I often meet up with other people on my course in my spare time.

  • 9. Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Great opportunities, if you try hard I believe you will be very successuful. The amount of experience you will receive is a very valuable thing.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
  • Understand about the history of RR. Be yourself and dont try and lie in the interview. Team working skills are very valuable. Ensure you speak up and have the confidence to contribute at the assesment centre.
