  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as an Advanced Practical Apprentice in my final year involves me touring the site responsible for Civil Large Engine Operations and completing various placements in order to collect evidence for the relevant units to achieve a NVQ Level 3 qualification.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed a variety of hands on engineering skills but also achieved additional skills such as lifting and slinging obtained from various courses I have participated in.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship a lot as I work in a field I am passionate about with people I can relate to and get along with. The company has met all of my expectations prior to starting

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Rolls-Royce?
  • I feel incredibly valued as an apprentice for Rolls Royce as I receive a lot of support when I require it. I am also recognised for any projects I participate in.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is structured well with clear guidelines and objectives. I have regular meetings with my supervisor in order to track my progress and offer support if required.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive support as and when I require it, my training officer keeps after me very well and is aware of my progress.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I haven't really dealt much with employer support due to the vast size of the company however on the very few occasions where I have received support it has been good.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Personally I feel I am very well paid as apprentice, I commute 100 miles a day to work but my salary more than covers this with living and social costs included.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes if I choose to participate in them, I tend to not deal with much activity outside of work as I do not live local.

  • 9. Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because of how prestigious the company is and how well you are looked after as a Rolls Royce employee


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
  • Ensure you obtain a relevant background to what job you are applying for prior to applying. There is a lot of competition so educating yourself in the field before hand will help.
