  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an Apprentice Accounts Assistant and I assist the Accounts team with various daily activities. My daily tasks involve completing expenses, e-forms, raising and releasing invoices, journal transfers, timesheet management and other jobs which I am given from my colleagues.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new skills within Accountancy, I have had to complete various internal training courses on the Mott Macdonald Systems including Lync and our bespoke finance systems. I have learnt how to create and edit invoices, I have learnt how to create and edit expenses and many other skills which have helped me to be of value to my colleagues in the accounts department.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy this apprenticeship, I love the prospects within Accountancy and the Possibilities within Mott Macdonald, The team that I work with are very helpful and supportive and I've met loads of new people within the office. My daily activities and roles are increasing every day as I get more accustomed to the systems and I am really looking forward to see what the future holds.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Mott MacDonald?
  • I feel valued by my colleagues in a way which I believe that they are confident that I can get the jobs I am given done in a sufficient time. I really feel I have fit in well and I can't wait to increase my roles and responsibilities and become of a higher value to my team.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeships are very organised at Mott Macdonald, We have various induction activities that need to be done then once I completed them I began learning the finance systems and my various daily tasks.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I have not yet started my college course, It starts in September with Eastleigh college and the communication I have had with them so far has been of a high standard.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer, I was given a buddy whom taught me all of the systems after I had finished my induction where I met my HR Team. Everyone has been supporting me to the best of their abilities which I have really appreciated.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My Salary fits my costs well and is a lot higher than the minimum wage for apprentices. I have a lot of travel with this job and the higher pay covers it well.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Mott Macdonald has an excellent Social club. They have various events throughout the year which they put money towards to allow a much cheaper cost for employees. They have a Pub ralleigh every year where they dress up and go through the pubs of a given location while doing quizzes and competitions along the way, They also do a Pub Quiz at the office every year, where everyone within the office gets together and participates in a quiz. They have many sports clubs at lunchtimes such as Badminton and football. On top of all these activities they do a lot of other trips throughout the year such as theme parks, musicals, live events and many others.

  • Yes

  • Because they are a very welcoming and well cultured group. They have a lot of in-house opportunities with such a global community.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mott MacDonald?
  • My advice to anyone applying to Mott Macdonald is to ensure your CV is up to date, clear and precise. When you arrive for your interview be confident and come across clearly, Show the enthusiasm and drive which you have for the role and be yourself.
