  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Throughout my apprenticeship I complete a variety of different tasks on a day to day basis depending on which department I am working in. I complete tasks such as booking in deliveries, labeling products, damages and repacks, picking stock, wrapping pallets and completing my NVQ workbook.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to drive the order picker trucks, book in stock and know what happens to damaged stock within the warehouse. Whilst working with a large number of other people, I have also became alot more confident in myself and feel like I fit in well.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working at Aldi as there is a variety of different tasks to complete within each department. The employees I work with make work alot more enjoyable as they are friendly and very supportive. Unlike previous job roles I have found Aldi alot more interesting due to moving around each department to find out what happens all around the warehouse.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aldi?
  • I feel extremely valued by the employees at Aldi. They appreciate all the work I do and thank me often for it. They are supportive and helpful. They involve me in projects and tasks and also events such as career evenings at High Schools which I helped at afew months back.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that my programme is very well organised and structured. When I first started this job role, I got a sheet telling me which departments I will be working in and in which month. The sheet also tells me what month I will start picking and which departments I will be picking in. I get told/emailed every month to tell me what date my assessor will be coming into the warehouse and what work I need to produce by then.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider. She gives me tasks and questions every month to complete for her next visit so that I can finish my apprenticeship on time. I know that if I have any questions or problems that cant be answered by my Line Manager then I can always give her a call or email for help.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my Line Manager, Wendy and also from all the section leaders/ deputies and employees in the warehouse. I know that if I need any help with anything or have any problems that I can ask any of them as they always help me with a positive attitude.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary at Aldi meets all the costs I need. The monthly wage for my car, petrol, phone and gym bill and also all social activities that take place weekly.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Celebrations take place for special occasions for all staff employees to get together such as the 10 year anniversary in September 2016. Aldi also have a scheme that can provide discounts at your local gym.

  • Yes

  • I would recommend Aldi to a friend as Aldi provide secure job roles, a variety of opportunities and promotions and is a fantastic company to work for.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • Make sure that your application online gives as much detail as possible and take your time filling out the application. Do background research on the company before your interview so that you know more about the company you are being interviewed to work for. There are a lot of opportunities that take place; During an apprenticeship, you will work with every department within the warehouse so you will know what each and every department do throughout the day and have experience working for each department.
