  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a mechanical fitter my day to day role is to follow and assist my journeyman in any jobs they recieve to improve my knowlege of mechanical fitting practices.

  • yes, through moving to different placement within the company, I have picked up new skills as each department has a different role, I have also devloped existing skills picked up from college such as i am using them on a regular basis in the business.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying my apprenticship, i feel there is a nice balance of college based time and practical learing through the business, and the company is very supportive.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?
  • I feel valued at BAE the company has apprentice meetings every so often to keep us up to date with what is happening in the business and provide us with any information they feel neccesary. They provide lots of oppertunites in terms of further devolopent.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel the programme is organised very well, we have apprentice meeting every 3 months to discuss how we are getting on and to make future targets for achieving work. This is good as it keeps me well on target to finishing the programme.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • There is plenty of support if you require it, we can get in touch via email to organise work or support. They are always willing to help out.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The company supports me very well, I have been provided with all the gear neccesary for my job in terms of tools and additional PPE, and they provide a well structured programme for me.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I think the salary at BAE is good for apprentices, your pay is reviewed every six months on how you are progressing in the programme if you are doing well and completing targets your pay increases.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The company has many opportunites outside the work such as sport activites or charity events, or apprentice competitions that are well advertised through the company intranet and through team talks.

  • 9. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • It is a great company that will look after you and really help you develop in whatever job you take. They provide lots of opportunites inside and out of work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • This is a great company to work for and I would show determination to do well, pride in what the company achieves and good attitude towards team work when applying as i feel this is what the company looks for.
