Assisting the contract owners to deliver the contract, ensuring progress data is up to date and accurate. Interacting with the lead stakeholders in the business area that directly affects our contract and ensuring that their achieved work and forecasts are accurately represented in the data presented to the contract owner.
I have learnt how to use programmes such as Microsoft Project more efficiently and have gained experience in risk and Baseline Change Request databases. Have also learnt how to raise directives to pay suppliers and how to project manage large tasks within a contract, creating and managing Statements of Work and programme schedules
The colleagues and contract owners I work with are very knowledgeable and forthcoming with assistance when required, and there is good camaraderie both within the office I work in as well as on the scheme
I feel like I get a lot of assistance when required and am often given responsibilities to manage by myself should my manager feel like I am capable. In this role in particular I have had recognition for organising and running tasks and workshops and feel I can be relied upon to manage my workload autonomously
The scheme is well structured on the most part and we get assistance and training when required. College is managed fairly fluidly alongside work expectations and the two seldom clash
The course leader regularly puts students forward for relevant training courses
I receive support from my line manager as and when required. They are highly knowledgeable and make time for me when I need assistance, but also delegate tasks and workload well in their absence
Pay is decent although changes to pay structure could mean potentially losing out on money compared to the previous structure. On the whole fairly happy and meets needs.
There are opportunities outside work should employees want to get involved (clubs, charities, social events, work related events (award nights)) of which I try to get involved with as and when possible
Yes
The workload can be fairly interesting and there are good future prospects. The pay is good and the qualifications open a lot of doors for future development. The company looks after its employees and cater for individual needs
Read about the company and learn as much as possible about what to apply for. If you know anybody who works here then try and gain as much information as possible...
