I am a business admin apprentice. This involves day-to-day jobs such as taking meeting notes attending plan of the day, ordering stationery, recording requistions, managing people's diaries and meeting requests.
Communication skills with a wide range of different people Working under pressure to hit deadlines Time management Use of new IT software (eg SAP)
I really enjoy what I do and I am extremely glad I chose this apprenticeship and not one on shop floor. It is good to be involved in the office life of BAE Systems and be around directors and other high managers in the business on a day-to-day basis.
I do feel valued as people rely on me to do jobs for them which can be seen as difficult tasks. Especially as most people say Admin are not seen as important at BAE, I do feel this is not true.
My programme is organised and structured to an extent. However the programmes assessor has moved jobs and there is nobody at our site to help with that and the closest assessfor for Admin apprentices is now in Preston.
I do recieve the support I need to get on with my apprenticeship, however I believe this will go down hill from May onwards unless another training provider is appointed.
I recieve sufficent support
I believe for my age (17), the wage I earn is good. However, I find it difficult to believe this when the Business Admin Apprentices in Preston/Warton get paid much more for doing the same job as I do and the same apprenticeship as I do.
I am currently underway with becoming a STEM ambassador for BAE Systems so this will give me opportunites
Yes
I would recommend BAE Systems to a friend as it is a safe, welcoming and busy company.
