  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I'm a team assistant apprentice for the department Creative. My day-to-day jobs include resizing images on photoshop for Continuity, putting in requests to get footage ingested, collecting voice over artists and taking them to their audio sessions, as well as general ad hoc duties.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have. For my qualification I am doing Creative and Digital Media, which has given me experience in; the use of camera equipment, understanding copyright, how to write a treatment and outline, which documents are needed for shoots, how to research etc. In my department I have learnt how to use the systems they use to playout promos, and have completed many online tests in health & safety, how to be safe on the internet etc.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my work environment, I am surrounded by positive and hardworking people all with the same goal. Everyday has a different challenge which keeps it in interesting.

  • Whenever I complete task which I completed well, I always get commendation for the work I have done.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • During our first few months we had induction/training days to with the Apprenticeship to help get us settled. We then continue to receive development days to help us progress further, such as building our personal brand.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My tutor is external, meaning we go out of ITV to complete our coursework, we have monthly reviews/catch ups to see how I am getting on and if to see if I'm struggling with anything.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • All team members are very approachable if you have a problem or difficulty. For example, I wanted more training as a Production Assistant, so I asked my colleague to show me a few day-to-day jobs and give me a bit of training.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I made the decision not to move into London, so I commute to and from work, so a large chunk of my wages goes on travel. I decided to keep my Saturday job just to top up my monthly wage.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Within my department we have an away day, where we get a day 'away' from work. This consists of motivational speakers, entertainment, a dinner etc. This gives a chance for people in the department to network and relax.

  • 9. Would you recommend ITV to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • As it's an amazing and energetic environment to work in with plenty of opportunities. There are plenty of workshops and events for you to see how you can develop your career at ITV.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to ITV?
  • Make sure you are friendly and personable with motivation and passion. During the assessment days, don't be afraid to speak up and say your ideas but don't be too over powering and let others speak. Before your interview make sure you have done research into the department you are going into. Wear something comfortable so you are not fidgeting and be yourself!
