I am an incident and operations analyst which involved investigating reported issues with the application and completing daily operations ie user stats
I have developed new skills such as being able to use SQL and LINUX, as well as building on my existing programming knowledge
The programme itself is good however some organisational issues have lead to some confusion with courses and I find quite often we aren't kept up to date with things that we should
Not very as I sometimes feel my manager ignores or doesn't think to include myself or other apprentices on the team because we are apprentices and will talk to the interns on the team more even thought they have only worked at HP 2 weeks longer than the apprentices
Badly organised, as there have been occasions where there have been changes made to the course and we haven't been told and there has been a lot of confusion which can be stressful but the structure of the course I feel is good as it covers a wide range of subjects
A lot, we have regular meetings and training sessions to make sure we are up to date with everything
Minimal apart from training for the application that I work on, which wasn't formal, I was just told to watch other people work
Very well, I'm able to afford a car to be able to get too and from work as well as other expenses and still have enough money to put in a savings account
Yes, I manage the company relationship with a Charity called DePaul which helps provide homes and opportunities for homeless young people across the country
No
As an employer, HP can be unfair and run badly as a lot of graduates are put in charge of projects and accounts without much experience so do not really know what they are doing or have much people skills - when I got a new delivery lead on the team that I work on it took him over a month to learn my name for example
It's a good start for a solid career but you'll get further if you move once you're qualified and have a couple of years experience
