  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a software enginner and on a day to day basis i look after systems under a secure client in which i organise and control the flow of documents and regularly check up on issues that have occured, I also take calls regarding problems that people are having and fix them to the best of my ability.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since first joining i have learned countless number of different skills and at the same time developing ones i already have, the knowledge that i have gained since being here is more than what i could have previously imagined. I have been on a couple of external courses to learn different attibutes to help towards the company and have used them day to day in the business.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The training was the most fun ive ever had, meeting new people in the same position as you and even though there were exams, i enjoyed doing them because it was something that i wanted to do. On coming into the business, the teams i have worked with couldnt be more friendly towards me and the experience during work is always fun and unpredictable.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Capgemini?
  • People are making sure that i am enjoying it here and whenever i feel stuck they will help me out. If i ever feel like i have nothing to do and am wasting my time, the team always brings me in on conversations and new jobs they are working on, whether they actually need me or not. The QA people also motivate you to do your best and they are always there if you have any questions.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Its really well done in the training bootcamp, but afterwards it has its moments where it has proved to create more confusion then not. We have had problems when doing some of the courses and in the retaking of previous exams which makes it harder to complete.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • From anoyone i have met, they have given me their full supoort and backing to make sure that i feel comfortable with what im doing. The training camp is where i felt the most support, in the stages that begin your career everyone was constantly there at any time, but when in the company business itself it is harder to find the support you want/need because of busy schedule times, however this is not always the case.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The manager, the team and the mentor are the most supportive people i ahve met, having only recently joined they will always be there if i need any help and will always push me to learn new things if i feel it is needed. Usually you are able to communicate at any point but sometimes the best way is through email/phone, but they are never to busy to take a few minutes of their time to talk to you.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Currently i have had no problems with costs, the salary is more than what i could have possibly imagined as a first job or even an apprenticeship for that matter, outside of work i am managing my money well with no problems whatsoever, there is plenty to have a really good social life and to be able to live appropriately. The travel cost is fine as the company pays for most of it but it does get quite tiring having to travel as far as i do everyday.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are alot of events that capgemini provide to improve on skills, social awareness and other such things, there are many social events which are alot of fun to be apart of and there are public events in which you get to travel and speak to people about what you do. Working in London is amazing but the travel is hard but i have also taken a few voluntary invites to go to events that are run by Capgemini.

  • 9. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The work environment is very good and friendly and at the same time as being fun, i have already got a few of my friends to apply and they have realised how good it is from the amount i talk about it, and the apprenticeship gives your everything you need to work in the IT industry.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Be confident but not to cocky. They are nice people and are in now way intimidating when being interviewed. They look for charismatic people as well as intelligent so while you look smart, be confident and believe in yourself and they will see that you are passionate and motivated to want to work with them.
