PMO, project support analyst. Daily tasks include working with the PM's, updating cost models, holding risk review, dealing with change requests and document reviews.
We have an external training course every 6 weeks with QA the apprenticeship provider where we learn about the processes of project management. I have improved on organisational skills and time management. Gained skills in processing and reporting on data.
I have a good team who are mostly very supportive. The company culture can sometimes be demoralizing, due to negative feedback from other apprentices regarding salaries and role rotation. I am enjoy learning and developing skills, and the external workshops are helpful.
I feel valued by my manager, team and project manager for the work I do. Internal recognition is also given and recognition points can be received.
I have found that the programme is not that well structured and could definitely be improved. Training sessions are well structured and managed. Induction was very poorly managed as we were not moved in to our roles for a number of weeks. One to one's with managers are often cancelled or moved last minute.
I receive full support from my training provider and feel like I can always contact him to discuss work and my progress. He is very positive and encouraging.
I receive a lot of support from my team mate/mentor, who has a highly positive attitude and is always wiling to help. I receive a lot of guidance and she puts a lot of time and effort aside to help me learn and progress.
I feel like the salary could be improved and pay rises should be considered more thoroughly and distributed more fairly. I travel quite a distance to work so incur numerous travel costs which do take up a proportion of my wage. I can still afford to live as I have few bills to pay, however if I lived alone I believe I would struggle.
There are lots of opportunities outside of work, including a company football team and a charity club etc. Volunteering initiatives are available and you can spend a certain amount of your work hours volunteering.
Yes
I would recommend HPE to a friend as it does provided you with the ability to learn why you earn and gain experience in the working environment. The fact that a Level 4 diploma is paid for is also a very commendable.
Be prepared for the assessment center's and interviews as they are a lengthy process. I would have liked to have been given more information on the job role and specifics.
