I work in the accounts department. My tasks consist of daily standing orders, sending invoices out for approvals, reconciling credit card receipts, as well as collecting post and taking cheques to the bank.
Yes, I have learnt many new skills since I have been working here. The skills include excel spread sheets, operating the printer and developing skills on the phone. I have also improved my general computer skills by taking functional skills in ICT.
I enjoy the jobs that I do, along with my colleagues that support me. If I ever need help I can always ask someone, and I am glad to help others as well.
I feel very valued in my role. I am relied on by my colleagues, internal and external, which makes me fell like I have a purpose and a significant and important role in the company.
I believe that the structure of the programme is very well organised. I am aware of the training I am entitled to, along with all my employee rights and responsibilities.
I receive all the support that I could ask for. If there is anything I and not sure about I can always ask my training provider who will then happily sit down with me to discuss any query that I have.
Much like my training provider, I can rely on my manager/mentor to point me in the right direction with any problem that I am having. There is also the HR team that can answer any questions about my employment.
This is one thing that is a slight negative about my apprenticeship. Although it is great that I get free training, the hourly rate is very low, which makes it hard to live especially as an adult.
There aren't really any outside activities to do with my job. Unless you include occasionally visiting one of our nurseries, but this would be during work hours. There is an awards night every year though.
Yes
It is a very good company to work for because of the pleasant environment and nice people. They offer steady, enjoyable work and everyone has a significant purpose.
For me, it started out quite hard because of the lack of experience that I had. I would certainly consider a job here if you have experience in a similar, smaller environment. However the application process is straight forward, and with a good HR team, you should have no trouble applying here.
