  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, this involves me, learning broadcast related infrastructure and how it works in a live environment. Firstly by shadowing an experienced member of the team, but then being able to work on my own, maybe fixing an item of broadcast kit, that I have been shown!

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The scheme is always about learning new skills, being able to pick up skills is important as this is a specialised field, and really exciting!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I could not have thought to do anything else.... This is perfect for myself. Being able to learn and work at the same time, it's just what I wanted to do!

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BBC?
  • All members of staff are extremely friendly and welcoming when you are working with them, and your are not looked at as an apprentice, your are a fellow colleague

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured however, it's a new scheme, and there are minor bugs that are being ironed out. But non the less, it makes the days more interesting and exciting

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The university are good, and facilitate our theory side of the job description and reasonable heavy physics and programming, however it all begins to make sense when relating it back to the industry

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • All the training is provided by the BBC which is great as, most industries have very different infrastructure, therefore as soon as you have finished the course you fully know the roll that you are filling

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The package is good, of you are working in London the that's accounted for... But elsewhere you have enough to work with

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities outside of working hours, as this is Live TV there are always extra items such as dedicated days for people and special broadcasts, which is always fun to be onsite!

  • 9. Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The BBC is known globally and the association with that company is great to have! Being able to say that you have worked with famous people and that's part of your job is great, and a real great experience!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
  • Be yourself, and enthusiastic towards working for such a corporation, having that motivation to want to learn and to do well, makes that extra different between getting the possition and not
