IT Data Steward Review

My job title is IT Data Steward, my day to day activities include 2nd line support to internal 3M employees, and also support in the telecommunications sector such as issues and the rollout process for the mobile devices. I also help conduct training for the employees on new software that gets released as 3M progresses.

I have learnt a lot of skills throughout my apprenticeship, this includes confidence in presenting in front of an audience, and also more technical knowledge regarding mobile device and laptops which greatly helps me in my day to day role.

I enjoy my program a lot, 3M has a very relaxed atmosphere as I do not feel pressured to do anything and if I need support it is always available when I need it. Also 3M provides a lot of out of work activities such as a football team and other social sporting events.

I feel very valued by 3M, on a day to day basis people tell me how great my support was which helps me feel very comfortable as an employee, I am also trusted to carry out important tasks which shows how much others can rely on me to do a good job.

The programs structure is good, I am told my dates for the course at the beginning of the apprenticeship so I can plan ahead, there may be some changes throughout the year but the are swiftly rectified around my schedule.

My training provider gives a lot of support when I require it, he is swift in his responses to my queries and visits me on a monthly basis for support and advice on my course.

My employers support is fantastic, my manager is always there for advice and help, and there are many others in my team who provide answers for my questions if I need it. They provide me with a good amount of work to keep me busy and accommodate for it if I am too busy.

The salary is okay, covers the basics in life.

There are many hobbies that 3M provide outside of work which is great, they also run different clubs for a wide variety of people.

It has a great working atmosphere, lots of support when needed, it has a great social side and the apprenticeship scheme is very good.
