  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • There was no specific job title. During work experience there was around 14 of us and each day we got an insight to each department and type of laws. on some days we shadowed trainee lawyers and asked them lots of questions.Such as what is a typical day like. Everyone was very open and welcoming you can ask any question you like and would be overwhelmed by how much you learnt in a day. We also took part in group activities which were really fun. And had workshops about litigation and cross examining. Throughout the week we have time to build on our powerpoint so we can present it to a panel of judges. On one of the days we had a workshop about confidence and the best way to present.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Everyday you learn many new skills such as problem solving and asking good questions. We had the chance to develop these skills by working in groups and communicating with people you never met before. I also strengthened my confidence during the week because preparing for the powerpoint made things much easier. During the week we got to ask the trainee lawyers on what types of qualifications you need and what qualities the firm looks for. To apply to the firm you need minimum 3 As as A level and a 2:1 in your degree. On one of the days we learnt how to improve our CV and interview techniques.
