Mechanictronic Technician - My job role involves the daily maintenance of robots manufacturing jaguars at Castle Bromwich plant. The work ranges from replacing worn out parts to diagnosing electrical faults on the system.
I have learnt electrical wiring installation as well as diagnosing electrical faults, I have learnt basis PLC programming, and workshop activities like mechanical maintenance and fitting. Within work I have learnt more about PLC and electrical wiring.
I enjoy my programme very much, it gives me the opportunity to learn a variety of skills which can benefit me in my future career.
I feel relatively valued by jaguar land rover, currently there is not a lot i can do whilst in work due to still training, but they are giving me as much extra training as they can.
I feel the programme is now beginning to become more structured, in my first year it was not very organised, but I feel this was due to it being the change over to trail blazer.
I feel I am receiving good support from my training provider, there can be improvements made, such as ensuring sufficient teaching staff and equipment to ensure maximum out of the lessons.
I feel I receive adequate support from my employer, they do as much as they can to help with any issues. They provide me with relevant training to help me with my daily work.
The pay I get on my apprenticeship is really good, its much better than other apprenticeships out there. It is sufficient enough for me to pay my bills that I have as well as covering travelling costs to college and work.
There are opportunities outside of work like CSR events which you can volunteer to take part in.
Yes
I would recommend jaguar land rover to a friend as it is a very good company to work for, you are looked after and the pay package is good. There is plenty of opportunity to develop skills to help you in your career as well as being part of manufacturing outstanding vehicles.
Be yourself, be confident, ensure you take time to understand the different job roles to make sure you pick what is right for you.
