  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my first year of the programme I am a pricing assistant in the product team. The product department are responsible for planning the holidays and working towards the company's 5 year strategy. I assist the pricing analyst in creating policies and setting the pricing documents up ready for the product team to price the packages. I also help to analyse the prices in depth. I interact with the finance department daily as they assist us during the pricing round. I also support the product team in the pricing round. I have recently done a few weeks helping the shorthaul team and worked on new destination projects and a project analysing the youth programme in Magaluf and Ibiza. I am currently responsible for the social media pages for the school leaver scheme and keeping the product noticeboard up to date.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed so much since joining the scheme at Tui. I undertook a two week induction when I first started that really helped me to settle in and learn how I could best develop within my job. All of the training is on the job and through internal courses which is brilliant as there is no need to go and study anywhere. I have learnt just how different school is to work and I have developed my analysis skills a huge amount.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme and I am so happy that I joined Tui as opposed to going to uni. The product team is a great team to work in, everyone is really supportive and the social aspect is great. One thing that makes the job is the culture in the office. The culture is really laid back, as long the hard work is being put in. One thing you learn that is different from school is the amount of freedom you have.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by TUI UK & Ireland?
  • I have felt really valued by Tui since the day I started. Everyone (especially the managers) are so appreciative of the hard work that you do. The recognition programme in place really shows this and makes you feel like you are valued. I was trusted from the day I started at Tui and the amount of projects and tasks I have been given shows this. It is great to know that I have been trusted with work that could have an impact on Tui as a whole. I have always been supported through projects that I have done and they have always been appreciated at the end.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The scheme is really well structured and will only get better as the scheme gets older. The induction I had in my first two weeks was really well put together and enabled me to get the most out of my first couple of weeks, while helping me to settle in at the same time. The scheme is structured so each school leaver has a buddy. Having a buddy is really helpful and allows me to raise any issues I may have with someone a similar age to me who has already been on the scheme. I always have tasks to do and there is a framework document with objectives to complete before you finish the programme.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a large amount of support from my manager. We have regular catch ups to check I am on track and am managing my workload. Support is easily accessible from anyone in my team as well as my manager, my buddy and the school leaver scheme coordinator who is always around to offer support and guidance. There is always a positive attitude from more experienced members in the team to supporting me in my role and helping me to get the most out of my job.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As mentioned above I receive a large amount of support from numerous people. There is always guidance to assist me with any problems I may have and the accessibility of support is always very easy.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I currently live at home so do not have many living costs. My salary is enough to cover my travel costs and allow me to have some disposable income. I am also able to contribute some to savings.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Many company events take place during the year. There is a big summer party that the company put on which is a great event. There is also a Christmas party that is organised within each team. As well as this there are many team nights out.

  • 9. Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would definitely recommend this scheme over university. The scheme is great fun and very productive as well. Further to this you have the chance to earn a salary where as people at university are facing a student debt. The social side of the job is so good and you are certainly not missing out by not going to uni.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • For the application process I would advise you to spend as much time as possible on your CV and application form. This is the company's first impression of you so make it a good one! Also if attending an interview, ensure you are fully prepared and with some decent questions and answers. Once at the assessment centre do your best to avoid any nerves as it is these that obstruct you from performing at the best of your ability.
