  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my current role as the After-sales Marketing Assistant, I have the responsibility to keep in contact with our marketing agencies and brief our ideas to them for new brochures, leaflets and other point of sale items. I am also dealing with orders for the Accessories that Vauxhall offer. This involves me keeping in contact with the Warehouse and ensuring that all orders are completed, logged and sent to the Warehouse for completion.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In the role that I am currently in, I have been able to develop a better understanding of the Car Manufacturing industry as a whole; including product knowledge specifically on Accessories. From having to communicate with suppliers, colleagues and other stakeholders, I have been able to develop my skills in both verbal and non-verbal effective communication.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This is my first year at Vauxhall and I am thoroughly enjoying being apart of the team. I didn't want to go to uni like most of my friends, but didn't want to stop developing my skills and education. Therefore, taking part in the Vauxhall Apprenticeship scheme has enabled me to combine learn at college to obtain further qualifications with getting a feel of the real life working environment. It definitely was the best decision for me!

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Stellantis?
  • Vauxhall are very good at making you feel like a valued member of staff. I was worried when I first joined that I would be treated differently to other staff, however this definitely was not the case. Any work which I complete to a good standard my manager and colleagues show appreciation and recognize hard work. I am always included and invited to take part in exciting projects within Marketing and also taken off site to experience different areas of the business. Vauxhall ensure that all apprentices have a varied selection of training opportunities available to them, to develop themselves and also support them in their current role.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As a Apprentice at Vauxhall, you receive a lot of support from all of the members of staff and there is always sometime to go to if in doubt or have any concerns. I do not currently have a mentor however, this is something that Vauxhall offer which involves you meeting up with another employee at Vauxhall on a regular basis. This is used a support mechanism and will be able to discuss your next steps and what you wish to achieve in the next couple of years.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I currently attend Bedford College one day a week where I am studying Business Administration and Management qualifications. We have a work based tutor who visits us in the work place and sets us individual work and also uses the time to ask if we have any problems or issues.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As mentioned above, I do not currently have a mentor but this is something I am looking into getting in the future. The team which I have joined have all been so welcoming and helpful since me starting. They have gone out of their way to accommodate me and make me feel equally as important as an experienced member of the team.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary which Vauxhall have put us on in our first year is a good salary and compared to a lot of other companies who offer the same apprenticeships is very reasonable. The salary increases each year as you become more experienced.

  • 9. Would you recommend Stellantis to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a very well structured program which a lot of thought and time has been put into it. You are able to learn, earn and gain valuable work based experience which will set you apart from other people similar in age. Having the opportunity to move around in different departments also means that you are able to obtain a variety of skills and develop in areas which may need working on more than other. All things which will help you develop as a person.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Stellantis?
  • The application process is very competitive. If i remember rightly, 150 individuals applied for the Business Administrator Apprentice role and this was narrowed down to 5 individuals who secured a placement. It is important to get across the reason why you would be good for the role as an Apprentice at Vauxhall over the other 149 people, without coming across big headed! Be yourself and remain professional throughout your interview process and show them why they should pick you.
