  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role at howdens joinery is a ware house man. this involves me doing different things in the ware house for example, I unload the wagon and then check it off after. also I sort stock out and reorganize it. in the morning I always comke in and do the ppi's whitch are line checks that have 25 different product codes on so I have to go round and count the product and also to make sure we have it and I stock is right. I also pick kitchens and the a every day thing. I have responisibilts of making sure the ware house is tidy and not mess also the fork lift checks are done every day so that we know that the fork lift is all working right. I also have to do stock transfers witch is on a daily basis.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • in my time I have been at howdens I have learnt a lot more things like all health and safety regulations. I have also learnt how to drive a fork lift which I enjoy doing. at this moment I am currently learning things on the counter and I have just learnt how to do an account payment over till and over the phone.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i love working at howdens because the team i work with are very good at what they do also they are easy to get a long with and also have a laugh, the company is great to work for because they look after all there staff like they take you out for meals and do thing with you when you hit your targets, the work i do is good because i am getttin g used to what to do and its good because if i get stuck with something i can just ask some one int the depot and they would help me with the problem. the company is great to work for it is a lot better than i ever expected.

  • i do feel valued because i am apart of a great team and also i love the job i do and they i am treated very well and also they btrust me with more important tasked.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the induction i had was very good and organized and also every one was so kin and friendly to me on the first day. the training is very good its unbelievable how much i have learnt in the time i have been here. the support i have had from every one is great as well because they help me with some things i don't know and also they helped a lot with the things i know now. al in all the training and all the program is great.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • with my my tutor the support he gives me is great and the things he talks me through is good because some times i don't get some stuff but he explains it in more depth i9s attitude towards me is great couldn't ask for a better tutor i have enjoyed all the experience.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • the support i have had off the manager and assistant manager is unbelievable they all ways help me with stuff i don't know and they have always guided me to become better at what i do and the attitude to awards me is great because some time it can take me a while to geta hang off things and they are really patient with me.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • the salary i get is great it gets me through the month and i always have some off it left and it supports everything i do like when i go out and travel places the salary is good.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • yeah because the compant take you places like go karting, rounder's, take you for meals, and also they put you on courses like the k8 course witch you go some where for a couple off days and they teach you loads abou how the k8 system works and what you can do on it.

  • Yes

  • because it is very helpful and also it give you a chance to get a good job that you want to do and also like doing it.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
  • the advice i would give is to apply for ibm and then work hard and enjoy what you do because it has helped me out a lot.
