  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On the Commercial School Leavers Scheme, I have taken on a number of different tasks and roles across a variety of areas in the business. Currently, I work in Trading, which involves me reviewing and analysing sales, and then adjsuting prices which go live straight to the website for the customers to book.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I feel the key skill I have learnt is Adaptabillity. When working for TUI your job requires you to adapt to the forever changing scenario which is the outside world, where something as simple as the weather could change your sales, which then affect your daily tasks and how you complete them.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The team cohesiveness is brilliant, with every team I have been a part of you never feel left out, and there is a fantastic support network of senior members of staff in you feel you have any problems. The social life in the Commercial department could be compared to that of university as well!

  • 4. How valued do you feel by TUI UK & Ireland?
  • From day one at TUI, I was never given any insignificant jobs to do. Every job you are given has a purpose and benefits you or the company in one way or another. There is always support and recognition form your managers, whatever department you are based in.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • On this 2 year program, I was given a full 2 week induction period that was very inightful, full of training and knowledge which I still value and use to this very day. Training is always provided on the job with plenty of courses away from your desk to further your education in certain areas. An excellent mentoring system also pairs you up with a senior manager who always makes you feel valued and is there for you if you need them.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Starting Salary of 15,000 is perfectly fine if your house sharing or living at home, local public transport costs are cheap too, with direct 30 minute train links to London if you live close to the capital.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • At TUI we have a concept called discovery days, which is where we take a half day out of work and do some voluntary work in the local community. However in the commerical team, we get opportunities to go abroad on resort trips and confrences. The most recent of which was Ibiza in October 2015
