  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the Main Office at Greensward Academy. I have different roles depending on the different days. From Monday to Wednesday, in the morning I work on the attendance desk. This involves taking off calls from parents, putting the correct marks on and dealing with attendance issues. In the afternoons, I come back to the Main Office and answer phone calls, deal with outgoing and incoming post, deal with customers and many other things. From Wednesday onwards I work as the Student Receptionist, I deal with students that are unwell or have accidents and perform first aid if need be.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills during my apprenticeship. Both of my job roles involve a lot of different skills including using different programmes on the computer and having confidence when speaking with parents and customers. I have also been on a few courses during my apprenticeship which have included, First aid at work, learning about epilepsy and annaphlaxisis and a Main Reception course. Once I have completed my apprenticeship, I would have gained a Buiness Administration Level 2 certificate.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Academies Enterprise Trust?
  • My Manager has been outstanding during my apprenticeship, along with my other colleagues. I have been offered support and help at all times and have been given time each day to complete the coursework required of me. Also, I was nominated by my Academy for Apprentice of the Mouth and I was given a certificate from the AET for this.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has been very well organised. At the beginning of the apprenticeship, I was given full training and induction to what I would be doing during my time at the Academy and my roles and responsibilities. The coursework book that I was given was very straight forward and clear to read and follow.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My Manager has been a great support system for me and I have always been able to speak with her whenever I needed to. Each department at the Academy has shown their support to me, including the HR and Attendance departments. My colleagues have offered me plenty of guidance and have had a brilliant attitude towards myself and the apprenticeship at all times.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I live close to the Academy therefore, I do not have any travelling costs. I feel as though my salary is enough to provide me with what I need at my age and the responsiblities that I have. If I lived further away from my employer, this could have been different.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I have attended two courses outside of my working hours which were learning about epilepsy and anaphlaxsis.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have very much enjoyed my time at Greensward Academy. I have been given the chance to learn lots of different skills and knowledge. I have been on courses that I wouldnt have had the chance to have gone on if I wasnt at the Academy. Finally, I have met many new friends during my apprenticeship that have been a great support system to me during my apprenticeship.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Academies Enterprise Trust?
  • If you have the chance to complete an apprenticeship with AET, then I would definately go for it and make sure that you maintain an open mind at all times and take every chance that you can to learn and experience something new whilst on your apprenticeship.
