  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I’m working in the Finance Technology department based in Edinburgh. The general overview of my role includes implementing changes in a programme management environment, my day-to-day activities would include communicating with different teams of my department in order to deliver a successful change.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since starting my role I have learned several new skills which have aided me in completing the tasks that have been set. As well as improving my existing skills, I have learned how to properly manage my time and set tasks that i have for that day in a professional manner.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Having the opportunity to work while learning towards a credential certification has been one of the main points why i choose this job vacancy.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by NatWest?
  • So far at this point the help I been receiving in the office has been great. This is shown in the commitment that my colleagues are determined to help with.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that some improvements could of been made to the programme regarding the travel to and from our one day release for the college day. However when talking in the terms of the whole structure of the programme, the outline of what is involved has been structured well.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The support received when i first contacted QAApprenticeships has been great. They provided support in terms of preparing me for the interview, assisting me with any contact information when i needed it.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support which i receive from my employer is great. Not much can be said apart from the fact that if i have any queries they get resolved within a timely manner.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary package is very valuable. It meets with my costs and even allows me to save. This has motivated myself to save for future expenses which i would not otherwise been able to do.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • By joining this scheme, the opportunities that will open up for me after i finish my placement will of course open up new doors. As you are gaining experience and also working towards a certificate - you are in line having two extra points which will aid you in finding new opportunities outside of work.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Its a great opportunity to get some on hands experience in the financial industry and as you are working and learning at the same time you get a credential certification at the end of the two year placement.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • I would encourage anyone who is interested in joining this scheme in the future. If you have not decided on what you would like to do in the future then joining a scheme likes this will not only gurantee yourself some on hands experience in the financial industry but also acquire you a certification - as the saying goes, you kill two birds with one stone!
